Moving averages as scenery, not instructions

Many charts arrive in the Moving Average Context Clinic wearing five averages “for confluence.” Confluence becomes noise when each line has a different unspoken rule.

We ask trainees to keep one ribbon that matches their timeframe and write three plain statements:

1. What slope means for trend bias.
2. What a close back through the average means after a pullback.
3. When distance from the average warns that a chase is underway.

Those statements sit beside the continuation model. Price can be above a rising average and still fail continuation if structure has cracked. Price can tag an average and still be a poor entry if the pullback is disorderly.

If your chart looks like a spider web, start with the clinic before adding another study.
